Pass on these Beauty Bombs and Get More Bang for Your Beauty Buck

Packaging-containers

Each and every year, we’re barraged with the latest and greatest in skincare and beauty. 10,000 cosmetic companies insist our beauty is contingent on their burgeoning breakthroughs designed to miraculously deliver ethereal results. But, you don’t need to spend all of your hard-earned cash on products that only promise puuurty packaging, frilly fillers, or have a certain star’s stamp of approval. We’re here to tell you what you can send packing and what you should splurge on. Remember, in the name of skincare, less is usually more.

  • Toner

Probably one of the biggest bogus beauty essentials is toner. Unless you’re a glistening, greasy oil slick by 10am replete with discernibly enlarged pores, this is a skincare step you can surely skip.  They are a total waste of dough and are nothing more than glorified bottles of alcohol, glycols, and little else.  If you crave that cool, tingly feeling after cleansing your skin, simply splash your face with some cold water a few times, as this will tighten up any pores that opened during the cleansing and de-gunking process, especially if you’ve just completed a detoxifying clay mask.

  • lanolipscrubLip Scrub

Why women feel the need to spend nearly twenty bucks a pop on a teeny, tiny sugar-based pot of botanical oils laced with honey and peppermint that they can make at home for less than five bucks, is astounding.  Or, you can simply take a toothbrush and gently buff your pout to perfection for free.  Stop paying for packaging!

  • Separate Creams for Face, Neck, and Décolleté

Here’s another covert cash cow out to milk your money. If you’re using an effective, high-performance, bio-active elevated anti-aging serum, cream, or lotion, such as SecretSerums® for your face, the same portion is good enough for your neck and chest areas. The skin on your neck and chest is similar to that on your face, with the same number of oil glands, pores, and susceptibility to damage.  So, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

  • Sunscreen Over SPF 30

An SPF face lotion/cream/foundation with an SPF 15 blocks out nearly 95% of the sun’s damaging rays, which is pretty impressive.  An SPF of 30 blocks out almost 98% of those same rays.  Do the math.  Not much difference, just way more chemical, which means more irritation, unless you’re more obliged to wear physical-based, mineral sunscreens. Plus, after two hours outdoors, you need to re-apply, anyway, the SPF factor notwithstanding.

  • Body Firming Products (Cellulite Creams)

Run – don’t walk – to get a refund if you’ve already purchased a ludicrous skincare solution promising to assuage sagging skin and dreaded dimpling that affects 99.9% of all women. No cream, lotion, or serum has been clinically proven to combat cellulitic skin. Sorry ladies, but, nothing except good, old-fashioned diet and exercise will cure the case of the cottage cheese thighs. You won’t get the butt you want by sitting on it or slathering it up with any kind of miracle cellulite-curing concoction.

  • Obnoxiously Over-Priced Skincare Products

It’s been touted repeatedly by the world’s top, leading dermatologists that expensive skincare doesn’t necessarily mean better, or even more effective, skincare than, say, drugstore gems. Ever notice how the most posh, cosmopolitan department stores house only the “biggest and best” household names? Most “sophisticated” skincare is a farce because it’s mostly made up of inactive ingredients and tons of feel-good fillers. Another creative caveat in big brand-building strategies is the use of over-killing one main ingredient, which is a complete waste of product since the skin can only absorb so much of any specific ingredient at one time, even with the most ingenious delivery system in place.  One example, to turn the other cheek is the nonsensical hydrating serum. Serums are formulated very thin in texture, not exactly conducive to delivering intense hydrating properties. Instead, serums are better formulated for delivering extracts, botanicals, antioxidants, and other bio-actives that can penetrate quickly and deeply into skin’s dermal layers. That’s why SecretSerums® is so unique. This simple, scientifically-savvy skin-smart system is loaded with effective, fast-acting bio-actives formulated to deliver instant, as well as cumulative results, safely. My Anti-Aging Secret is formulated for the entire face, neck, and décolleté areas and contains only the highest-grade, clinically proven ingredients to correct and protect nearly every sign of aging, including loss of elasticity, discoloration, fine lines/wrinkles, dryness, and dullness.  When used in conjunction with My Instant Line Filler, you’ve got your double agent helping to win the war on wrinkles.  And you won’t be left with sticker shock, just soft, smooth, youthful-looking skin. That’s pretty priceless.
